New Era in Indonesian Football (ISL)

Yesterday, July 12, 2008, new era of Indonesian professional Football begun by Indonesia Super League (ISL) which was hold by PSSI and BLI. Indonesia Super League (ISL) is new format of Indonesia football league which follow the AFC standard. Every club which is competing in Indonesia Super League (ISL) should comply with five major PSSI and BLI criteria in sporting, infrastructure, personnel, administration, legal, and finance.
In sporting criteria, every football club should have priority to have young player team (under 21 team) beside the main team. This criterion will push every team to build young squad team so it can guarantee the continuity of young player in every club. In the infrastructure criteria, every club should have standardizes stadium which guarantee every match can be play safety and the supporter can watch the match with comfortable. In personnel and administration aspects, every club should have personnel which can guarantee to have professional administration so every club will be run with high professionalism. In Legal aspect, every club should have clearly legal status which follows the PSSI rules (in PT format). This criterion will guarantee every club to manage their business and their finance carefully and do not depend on APBD for their finance.

Finally Indonesia has football league with the same level as J-League in Japan. There are 18 clubs competing in the first Indonesia Super League. They are Arema Malang, Deltras Sidoarjo, Pelita Jaya, Persela Lamongan, Persib Bandung, Persiba Balikpapan, Persija Jakarta, Persijap Jepara, Persik Kediri, Persipura Jayapura, Persita Tangerang, Persitara Jakarta Utara, Persiwa Wamena, PKT Bontang, PSIS Semarang, PSM Makassar, PSMS Medan, and Sriwijaya FC.
